In stock now is this outstanding 1956 oval window Volkswagen Beetle. Built at the VW factory in Wolfsburg, West Germany in 1956 the car was first registered in Sweden.
The original owner retained the car until 1976 when it was involved in an accident which required the bonnet and one front wing to be repainted, the rest of the car is still in its original paint. The beetle was then sold to a museum where it was kept as an exhibit till 1999.
It was then sold to a VW collector who kept it until 2006 when he decided to thin down his collection and sold off this car as it was too new.
The car was bought by a Historic Volkswagen Club member in the UK who re-commission the car for road use after thirty years of being on display and in storage.
The car is an unrestored original example having covered just 78029 kilometres (48,484 miles).
We have a certificate from the AutoMuseum Volkswagen confirming the chassis number (1217194) was built as a 1.2 litre 30 DIN car, finished in L41 Black and built and left the factory on 15th June 1956 bound for Sweden. Options were M018 (larger reflector in brake / indicator light), M067 (77Ah battery, 6 volt), M089 (laminated windscreen), M104 (upholstery leatherette red) and M042 (an option code which the museum could not identify).
A superb example of this motoring icon.
