The 997 was an evolution of the preceding 996, with the most significant changes being interior and exterior styling. However, the car is technically very similar to its predecessor. The engine has been updated with a revised engine with direct injection and the introduction of the “PDK” dual clutch as well as the normal automatic and manual. This meant that the 997 was a lot faster and lighter as the car could do 0-60MPH in three seconds. Porsche created many variations of the 997 with the coup, cabriolet, Targa, speeders and even track cars like the GT2 and GT3.
The 997 Carrera 2 was a follow on from the highly successful 996 Carrera 2. It came with a 3.6 litre but later they brought out the Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) into their car range.
This Porsche 997 was first registered in December 2004 by Porsche Centre Wilmslow. Since then, in the last four years the car has been treated with £16,000 of upgrades. In July 2014 the car went into Project Nine Engineering to diagnose a misfire. Upon investigation it was discovered that the engine had suffered from scored bores. The engine was then rebuilt with new parts as required including an upgraded IMS bearing, at a cost of £9783.44.
A few items have been colour coded and a racing stripe added by the previous owner, whilst we think they look good they can all be returned to standard if preferred.
